Manners Eating and Drinking in Islam According to Doctors Health
In
Islam, Allah recommends to eat and drink that is lawful and good, and begizi.
Halal means permissible or no prohibition syar'i that prohibit it, either
because of the nature of objects or how to obtain it. Nutritious point is
needed by the body, such as vitamins, carbohydrates, proteins and fats. As we
eat food that is good, is expected to be an energy source that can help us to
do good. That way the food has a blessing in our lives.
Besides
Islam also teaches about the etiquette of eating and drinking as the word of
Allah the following
فكلوا
مما رزقكم ٱلله حللا طيبا وٱشكروا نعمت ٱلله إنكنتم إياه تعبدون
So
eat of the lawful and good of the sustenance which God has given to you; and
give thanks favors of Allah, if ye only to worship Him alone. (Q.S An-Nahl
verse 114)
Understanding
Adab Eating and Drinking in Islam
Adab
in Islam means smoothness and goodness of character. Modesty is not only
socially but also in eating his manners. Eating and Drinking also critical
about the lack of rules and courtesy. Islam has set the way to eat and drink
according to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad SAW Majesty. Eating and
drinking in the Prophet exemplified are rules that must be applied to every day
life. Eating and drinking good must start and end the prayer prayers as well.
Eating
and drinking are entered into our body must be good and lawful. Good food can
affect our thoughts and activities on daily basis. Similarly contrast, the
unclean foods would have a negative impact on our body and mind. Allah also
gives us the freedom to enjoy food and drink in this world as long as there is
no ban prohibiting syar'i her to eat.
Word
of Allah
يأيها
ٱلذين ءامنوا لا تحرموا طيبت مآ أحل ٱلله لكم ولا تعتدواإن ٱلله لا يحب ٱلمعتدين
O
ye who believe, do not unlawful anything good that God has made lawful for you,
and do not transgress limits. Allah does not love those who exceed the limits.
(Q.S Al-Maidah verse 87)
Adab
Eating and Drinking Rasulullah SAW
Prophet
exemplifies how to eat and drink well:
1.
Wash Hands
Washing
hands is one way to avoid becoming infected with a dangerous disease.
Rasulullah
SAW said: "He who was asleep in her arms are former lard / fat (because it
is not washed), and when morning he suffered from an illness, then let him not
to blame but himself."
2.
Reading Basmalah Before Eating
Included
also read basmalah before eating and ending with hamdalah after eating.
It
was narrated from Umar ibn Abi Salamah said:
كنت
غلاما في حجر رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم-, وكانت يدي تطيش في الصحفة, فقال لي رسول
الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم-: ياغلام, سم الله, وكل بيمينك, وكل مما يليك
Meaning:
"When I was a kid in the upbringing Messenger of Allaah alaihi Wasallam,
and my hand took the food from all sides of the plate. then said to me the
Messenger of Allaah 'alaihi Wasallam: O children, read basmalah, and eat with
your right hand, and eat what is close to you. "(Narrated by Bukhari,
Muslim, Ahmad, Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah)
And
read hamdalah after eating or drinking, according to the words of the Messenger
of Allaah 'alaihi Wasallam:
من
أكل طعاما فقال الحمد لله الذي أطعمني هذا ورزقنيه من غير حول مني ولا قوة غفر له ما
تقدم من ذنبه
Meaning:
"He who after having read Alhamdulillahilladzi ad'amani hadha rozaqanihi
wa min ghoiri HAULIN minni wala Quwwah then his sins forgiven the past."
(Reported by At-Tirmidhi, Al-Albani said: hasan hadeeth)
Allah's
Apostle SAW bersabada: "If one of you want to eat, then celebrate the name
of Allah SWT. And if he forgot his name at first, then read, 'Bismillahi
awwalahu wa akhirahu' (In the name of Allah at the beginning and at the end).
"(HR. Abu Dawud)
Prophet
also said: "Verily Allah be pleased with a servant when eating a meal and
then she say Alhamdulillah. And when he drank a drink so he will say
Alhamdulillah. "(HR. Muslim, Ahmad and Tirmidhi)
3.
Eating and Drinking With Right Hand
Using
the right hand to eat and drink. Islam forbids eating and drinking using the
left hand. Rasulullah SAW said:
لاتأكلوا
بالشمال فإن الشيطان يأكل بالشمال
It
means: "Do not eat with your left hand, because the devil eat the left
hand." (Reported by Muslim, Ahmad and Ibn Majah)
Abdullah
bin Umar. saying that the Prophet SAW said: "If any one among you eat, let
him eat with his right hand, and when he drank then let drink with his right
hand. Because devils were eating and drinking with his left hand. "(HR.
Muslim)
Both
the human hand can issue three kinds of enzymes, but the concentration in the
hands of the right more than the left hand. These enzymes are very helpful in
the process of digestion.
4. Denouncing Food
Eating eat, likes and does not blame the food is not preferred. How practiced the
Prophet Muhammad in the hadith below:
ماعاب
رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم طعاما قط, كان اذا اشتهى شيئا أكله وإن كرهه تركه
Meaning:
"The Messenger Sholallahu 'alaihi Wasallam never denounced any food at
all. If he wants it, he ate it, and if it does not eat, he left it.
"(Reported by Bukhari, Muslim, Ahmad and At-Tirmidhi)
5.sunnah Eating Together
sunnah
gathered when they want to eat. Eating together will increase the pleasure and
blessing, more are gathered so many of his blessings. Rasulullah SAW said:
طعام
الواحد يكفي الاثنين, وطعام الاثنين يكفي الأربعة, وطعام الأربعة يكفي الثمانية
It
means: "one person enough food for two people, and two people enough food
for four people, and the food is enough for four to eight people."
(Reported by Muslim, Ahmad and At-Tirmidhi)
He
also said:
فاجتمعوا
على طعامكم واذكروا اسم الله عليه يبارك لكم فيه
Meaning:
"Berkumpulkan when eating and read the name of God, God will bless you in
the food." (Abu Dawud and Ahmad)
6.
Moderation in food and also no shortage

Prophet
also advised to be wise in all respects, including in food. Everyone should be
able to guess how much he needs to eat her so that no excessive and also
disadvantages.
The
Messenger of Allaah alaihi Wasallam said:
فثلث
لطعامه وثلث لشرابه وثلث لنفسه
Translation:
"One-third for food, one-third for drink and one third for his
breath." (Reported by At-Tirmidhi, Ahmad and Ibn Majah)

Lean While Eating

From
Mikdam bin Ma'dikarib ra. Stating heard Rasulullah SAW said: "There is no
child of Adam meet somewhere worse than his stomach. Suffice it to the children
of Adam a few mouthfuls that can enforce his spine. If there is no other way,
then one third (from the stomach) for his food, a third for drink and one third
for breathing. "(HR. Tirmidhi and Hakim)
8.
Eat when hungry and stop Before Satiety
Rasulullah
SAW said: "I do not eat with the lean position (muttaki-an)." (HR.
Bukhari)
"Muttaki's"
nothing to interpret sitting cross-legged and some are interpreting sesuatum
lean towards either leaning on one hand or leaning on the pillow. Some are interpreting
leaning on the side of the body.
Hopefully

9.
Eat Halal Food
The
obligation of a Muslim is his family spend with kosher food and the correct
way. Because in every whatever we do it right and lawful will bring blessings
in the household, and in our families.
Allah
Ta'ala says in Surah Al-Mu'minun Paragraph 51
يأيهاٱلرسل
كلوا من ٱلطيبت وٱعملوا صلحا إنى بما تعملون عليم
O
apostles, eat of the food was good, and serve good works. Verily I Knower of
what you do.
10.
Start Eating From the Edge-Edge
Blessing
was down from the middle of the meal. Therefore, eat from the edges and do not
directly eat take away from the center of the food Tenggah. (At-Tirmidhi H.R
Ibn Abbas no 1727)
11.
Putting Spot Salah Instead If Already Food Has Served
The
purpose of has served that was ready to eat. Rasullualah shallallhu 'alaihi wa
sallam said, "If dinner has been served and prayers have been upheld, then
start with dinner and do not be hasty (all pray) until your food is
finished." (Agreed alaih)
Faidah
priority to eat rather than prayer is we will not think about food when
praying. Therefore, which measures the level of a person hungry. If there is
someone very hungry and the food has been served should eat first. But this
should not be done much less frequently used as a routine.
12.
Drink Triple Draught While Breath Taking Off Glasses
Drink
water
Prophet
sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam drink as much as three times, the name of God in
the beginning and praise God in the end. HR. Ibn As-Sunni in 'Amalul yaumi
Wallailah (472)
When
the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam drink, he breathed three times. He
said, "How like that is fresher, more delicious and more filling."
(HR. Bukhari and Muslim)
Breathe
in glasses forbidden by the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam in his
saying, "If any one of you drink, she should not breathe in the
glass." (HR. Bukhari)
13.
Pray Before Drinking Milk and gargle-Mouthwash Afterward
Rinsing
the mouth
Allah's
Apostle sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "If you drink milk then
say," Allahumma barik lana fihi wa zidna minhu (O Allah bless us in the
milk and add to our more than that) because there is no food and drink which is
equivalent to milk. "(HR. Al-Bayhaqi in Syu'abul Faith (5957), rated hasan
by al-Albani in Sahih al-Jami '(381))
Prophet
sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said, "If you drink milk then rinse kumurlah
for real-time milk meningkalkan taste in the mouth. "HR. Ibn Majah (499)
